San Jose Airport is the closest major airport to System Studies. It is located about 30 miles north of Santa Cruz, and approximately one hour's driving time. Highway 17, which connects San Jose with Santa Cruz is a fast winding highway through scenic mountains. For first-timers, it's best driven during the day and/or non-peak traffic hours. Peak traffic hours are weekdays, southbound to Santa Cruz after 3:30 p.m., and northbound to San Jose before 10 a.m.
  • San Francisco Airport is 65 miles north of Santa Cruz, about two hours away.
  • Monterey/Carmel is 35 miles south of Santa Cruz.
  • Los Angeles is 375 miles south of Santa Cruz.
Payment and Cancellation Policy
Credit card transactions are preferred. Checks must be received five days prior to the start of class. Cancellations received up to 10 working days before the seminar are refundable minus a $50 fee. Cancellations made less than 10 working days prior to the class are not refundable, but you may apply the seminar fee toward a future seminar within 12 months. Please note that if you do not cancel and do not attend, you are still responsible for payment. Student substitutions may be made at any time. Contact the hotel directly if you must cancel within 48 hours.

Car Rental
Most major rent-a-car agencies can be found at both San Jose and San Francisco airports. Please call for your own reservations.

Santa Cruz Airporter Shuttle
High possibility of many riders and multiple stops. Cost is approximately $68.00 one way from San Jose airport to Santa Cruz, $130.00 roundtrip pre-paid in advance. (831) 423-1214 or (800) 497-4997.

Early Bird Shuttle
Like a private town car service. Cost is $75.00 plus gratuities one way from San Jose Airport to Santa Cruz for up to three adults. Provides service 24 hours per day, with an extra charge for travel between 11 p.m and 5 a.m. (831) 462-3933.

Temperature and Weather
Santa Cruz is cooler than you might think, especially near the coast! Summers range from foggy and cold to warm (50s–70s F, 10–24 C) with occasional hot weather. Winters can be rainy and cool to mild (40s–60s F, 4–16 C). Bring a jacket, sweater or windbreaker even in the summer!
